The Girls section at Oswestry Rugby Club has grown rapidly over the last four years developing girls from 11 through to 18 and into the Women's section.
Lots of hard work has gone into building a sustainable structure and development pathway all the way to the u18 England team.
We have u13, u15 and u18 squads all with qualified experienced coaches along with support coaches in place to run structured training sessions with a focus on development and most importantly fun.
Rugby is a contact sport and injuries do happen but this is reduced by good technique and a focus on the RFU’s Activate injury prevention exercise programme
Here is 8 reasons why you should let your daughter play rugby
She will learn the importance of hard work.
She will learn how strong and powerful her body is.
She will know that she is capable of anything her male cohorts can do.
She will learn how to get back up once she's been knocked down.
She will experience the incredible feeling of being part of a team.
She will respect others, regardless of their decision.
She will learn to deal with disappointment.
She will realize she is unstoppable.
Whilst we enjoy the off season recover time the new season is not so far away so if your daughter would like to give rugby a try we will be returning to the club for our first preseason training and new player development season on Monday 5th of August 2019 7-8.30pm.
Everyone is welcome with or without experience to join this great group of girls and have some fun whistle making new friends, getting fit and learning new skills. The summer session do not involve an contact rugby they will enable you to be ready for the start of the season when the sessions will be moving in to contact and developing your daughters skills.
If you currently attend Lakelands Academy or St Martins School you will see our Oswestry coaches delivering rugby in school as part of our youth development program in September. So get a head of the game and be rugby ready.
